You can imagine that from my many years of managing anxiety, coaching and supporting those through their anxiety that I have a deep understanding of Anxiety.
What I really want to share with you is my perspective of Anxiety and how we can best work with it and move through it.
Definitions online regarding Anxiety sound like this:
Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure.
People with anxiety disorders usually have recurring intrusive thoughts or concerns. They may avoid certain situations out of worry.
Now, presently and throughout the last 18 months where we have been thrown into a very uncertain, unstable experience. So I am seeing anxiety present in people that previously have never felt anxious, uncertain or insecure in anyway.
This is a given – so many people are, for the first time ever, experiencing a sense of oppression, control and external force. Even if they are still relatively safe, healthy, blessed (let’s not gaslight ok) they are allowed to feel anxious and overwhelmed.
Trauma = when something is too much, happens too fast, or unfolds too soon without preparation or an ability to brace for the worst.
That’s what so many of us are going through.
But Anxiety shows up in our everyday in small ways.
I’d like to share with you two examples with you – two examples that show different experiences of anxiety and how to unpack it.
