CRYING & WHY I LOVE TO DO IT + AN eBOOK OFFER FOR YOU
A few weeks I jumped onto the phone after reading a blog post from my soul sista, Melissa Ambrosini. She was blogging about how she’d been feeling quite emotional and crying alot.
I totally resonated with her post because I had been feeling the same. On one particular day there were tears, lots of them, and this uncomfortable feeling stuck in my chest.
We chatted through crying and the experience of opening up to whatever was there. Simply and whole-heartedly accepting that we felt something, although often unidentifiable and unnamed, and what we needed to do was move towards those feelings, instead of suppressing them.
I have a secret love of crying – a secret joy for those really messed up moments.
That might seem like the strangest thing to say, ever, but hear me out. I’m not getting off on pain, it’s more about the underlying truth.
In moments of pain I feel the most alive:
It’s hard to deny that when we feel hurt and sad, as heavy and awful as that might be, I feel like I’ve tapped into something deep and have nose-dived into some dark corners that being on the surface won’t allow me access too.
It’s like I get a direct two-way feed into my true essence, my true being. I can tell there is something trying to be communicated to me – the REAL me fighting it out with my ego and it wants to be heard.
In those sad times everything is quite raw, vivid, honest. It’s hard to shy away from the truth (whatever that may be for you) and from that truth comes such aliveness. I feel so connected and in tune, despite the darkness.
When I cry I feel the most present I can ever feel:
Think about it. You are crying, curled up in a ball, sobbing into a pillow. You aren’t checking your phone or answering an email. You aren’t distracted by anything else nor would you care to be. You are fully and completely IN THAT MOMENT. You totally and utterly surrender to it, irrespective of whether you know what IT is.
It’s all about surrender:
The common theme here is that the way in, through and out of these more emotional experiences is to let go of your own agenda, ideas and expectations and completely surrender to the experience and the messages being beamed to you!
Surrender is a HUGE topic and one that is very close to my heart. In fact, it’s so special to me that I’m just about to launch my first eBook called: Get out of your way: 17 ways to surrender for your best life yet. Within my book I talk about the healing power of tears. Here is a little excerpt for you:
It’s all about moving towards and embracing the emotion instead of stifling it and fighting it. That just feeds it and encourages it to grow bigger and out of control. And then underneath the ’emotion’ and the pain, which is really ego-driven, is your truth – what you really feel to be true!
