This post is part of  ‘The Freedom Blog Tour’. To celebrate round two of The Freedom Project, commencing February 9th, I’ve asked a handful of my favourite people to share their insights on FREEDOM. These posts are designed to demonstrate how freedom is such a personal and unique experience for every single one of us. As I go on this amazing journey of motherhood and Barre Body (both came about at the same time), I am constantly guided by the strong desire to be free. To be free from a 9 to 5 job. To be free to live my dreams. To be free financially. To be free to enjoy myself in my work. To be free to travel. To be free to exercise. To be free to lunch. To be free to meditate. To be free to learn and grow. To be free to live and love passionately. To be free from stress (still working on this…) To be free to be there for Xavier when he wakes up. To be free (and not too tired) to play with Xavier. To be free to take Xavier (and more babies to come) to and from school when he gets older. And the list goes on. I started Barre Body because I didn’t want to go back to “work”. I wanted to be able to balance being a mum with doing work that challenges and excites me. I wanted to be able to run my own show. I wanted to earn enough money so that I had “enough” to live and enjoy myself. Now that I’ve achieved that, I want to embrace and luxuriate in my freedom so that the “freedom” of having my own business doesn’t tie me up in admin and “must-dos” (always a danger). Years ago, I read “The Four Hour Work Week” by Tim Ferriss and I loved the concept. He talks about his four point strategy for reducing his hours to 4 hours per week and the one that appealed to me most was “liberate”  – as in to try to liberate yourself from an office and I just loved the idea of that. How different my life could be by no longer having to go to a workplace? I had dreams of yoga, meditation, healthy home-made lunches, a gorgeous home office, a business that I loved and… lo and behold, that is exactly the life that I am free to live now. My advice to you? If you have a dream, passion or idea that you want to bring to fruition in the pursuit of freedom, be brave and go for it! The universe has a magical way of rearranging itself to give you exactly what you need/want when you need it (and there is plenty to go around for everyone!). If you believe in the law of attraction, as I do, like attracts like, and by being brave and taking the plunge, you will invite and attract things, people and ideas into your life that will help make your dream happen. How do you make peace with the spiritual/soulful lessons you are learning yet still be connected to and part of humanity? I really wanted to open up this forum to talk about what the hell we do with our spiritual journey/learnings/lessons that (sometimes) don’t quite seem to ‘fit’ into our normal everyday life. In today’s vlog, I tackle a really powerful question that came up last year in The Freedom Project members group. These questions really got me thinking, and I know that so many of you out there wondering the same thing: What do we do in life when we are presented with situations where someone we know  is deep in their story (i.e caught up in the drama, governed by Ego and just playing in an unconscious space)? Are we supposed to ignore and not pay attention to what this person is feeling, and keep reminding them that they are not their story?  And if so, how do we live with a compassionate and empathetic attitude towards others. Isn’t that what Humanity is about?  How do we make peace with what we know /learning –  we are not those limiting stories – and yet still be part of humanity? Good questions, huh!? I know, personally, I have asked this question to myself many times. It’s all about finding that balance point between our ‘humanness’ and the world we are part of, juxtaposed against spiritual truths and higher consciousness. It’s not an easy thing to do, but it’s possible. In fact, that’s the whole point of this crazy thing called life. Ok, so CLICK PLAY below to hear how I make peace with my spirituality! I breakdown how our ‘story’ and our ‘ego’ tend to be our go-to reference point  (security blanket, confidant, safety net) but is actually our illusion. It’s not the truth of who we are. + I talk through the importance of living as a Spiritual being having a Human existence, and what that really means. 3 STEPS TO DROPPING THE JUDGMENT + BLAME GAME

In week three of The Freedom Project we’ve explored Judgment + Blame and I wanted to share with you some of the exercises in the workbook provided. This is a powerful exercise that will really help you to see how the attitude of Judgment + Blame creates resistance in your life. So, you want to live in alignment with your soul? Remember this – we have to completely understand the Ego and its games and in doing so be compassionate and gentle with ourselves. Passing judgment and laying blame is a major game that the Ego plays! Sometimes this game can play out in the subtlest ways. We don’t even notice how quick we pass judgement on others or to ourselves and the same applies for laying blame. It can be a profound and very eye-opening experience to consciously ‘catch’ ourselves in moments of judgement + blame. This show us how we are end up feeling limited, held back and out of sync with our authentic self. Judgment + blame The Ego’s role is to BUILD up or to TEAR down. It lays credit and it dishes out blame. This role plays out in the way we think and feel about ourselves but also in the way we think and feel about others. Our Ego will either look for ways to build you up and lay credit onto you. Here are a few examples to help explain: “I am prettier than her”. “At least I am intelligent and can string a sentence together” “I can do this, easy!” “I am the reason my team at work does so well, without me they’d be struggling” Can you see the judgment to others whilst building yourself up? This also plays out in reverse – building up and laying credit onto others. What’s important to note here is that when this happens it’s usually coupled with judgments thrown back onto ourselves. “She is gorgeous, that’s why she’s so successful. I’m no where near as pretty, that must be why I’m not doing so well” “I could never come up with an idea like that. He’s out-of-this-world intelligent” “Some people are just born with talent. I wasn’t! I can’t do what she does” Can you see the attitude of ‘building up’ others and tearing yourself down? There is no freedom in judgment. Try to conjure up how the above examples make you feel? I’ll take a wild guess here and say you feel close, constricted, frustrated, angry, anxious and maybe even stressed. Far from acceptance, surrender and non-resistance, Judgment + Blame are the cause for alot of the negative emotions we experience in life. Another way to look at this is when we judge a situation and therefore carry the emotions cultivated BECAUSE of that judgment. Without that judgement and label, perhaps the situation/experience is neutral – it only becomes a problem when we object to it! Bust through the resistance This series of exercises will be very supportive for you in identifying the Ego’s game of judgment + blame. It’s time to get honest with yourself and see where Step 1: Over the next week you are going to notice how often your mind (Ego!) plays this game. At the end of each day (or during the day if you can) write down at least 3 examples of where you noticed you were: Laying credit + building up – to yourself and/or to others Dishing out blame + tearing down – to yourself and/or to others The first time I did this I was shocked to see how often I would (quite unconsciously!) play in this space. Step 2: Explore the WHY. Get familiar with how you are feeling in those moments when you are in credit/blame, tear down/build up mode. What was happening in that moment? What were you feeling, on a deeper level that may have triggered the Ego? What part of you – feeling/emotion – are you ignoring that needs to be dealt with? Often when we are in that space of judging ourselves or others we are really ignoring something in us – a feeling or emotion – that has come up. Perhaps it’s a feeling of inadequacy, insecurity, unhappiness… whatever it is, begin to notice the connection between the act of judging and blame (yourself or others) and what’s really coming up for you! Step 3: Use the process of FEEL, EMBRACE + DROP, to move through your discoveries FEEL the emotion fully. Instead of suppressing it, allow the feeling to come up and be with you. Take a deep breath. Let go and allow yourself to FEEL the emotion fully and embrace that which you are trying to resist. Continue to open up, rather than feel fear and close off. EMBRACE the emotion. Really open up to the feeling of the experience that is causing the judgments, blame and resistance. Own the emotion. Let yourself get comfortable with it’s existence. This is different to embracing the actual experience. That is playing with the context and story, which is irrelevant here. DROP the labels and judgements that you have. Just allow yourself to step away from it for a moment (or longer). THE FREEDOM PROJECT is not currently taking enrollments. In The Freedom Project we’ve recently completed week 2 which focused on busting through our attachments – and it’s been so interesting to watch the beautiful members of this project share their insights and discoveries with attachments. As my beautiful, open-hearted members do the work, I am doing it with them, week on week. It’s been a powerful journey for me so far – one fueled with passionate moments of fear, joy and even overwhelm. For me, one particular ‘attachment’ showed up that I am now allowing myself to completely release and let go. I wanted to share this attachment with you gorgeous readers as it involves The Wellness Project. I’ve even felt resistance in sharing this with you out of fear of getting pigeon-holed or that I might ‘force’ myself into a corner where I can’t ever get out of. But, in the spirit of #surrender I am being true to what I feel and have decided to share this with you! The attachment to what once was For many of you, who have followed this blog since the beginning, you’ll know that there has been a very organic evolution. Over the last 4 months in particular there has been a shift taking place – both within me and therefore within my business. I think it’s really key to highlight here that I do my best to live and breathe authentically in all areas, which means that my business is simply a reflection and extension of me. There isn’t a strategy behind it, I don’t really know what my ‘brand’ is, but I just know that it’s from me. As you may have noticed there has been less of a focus on ‘food and nutrition’ via this blog. I didn’t plan this, but I have found myself less inclined to talk about it. That’s not to say I am less inclined towards clean eating. I am still passionate about it – but the ‘sharing’ of it seems to have waned a little. The attachment I have discovered is to the ‘old way’ of doing things on this blog. I can hear my distracting Ego pointing out that I am doing things quite differently to what I did previously and that maybe that’s not a good idea! My Ego likes to point out: You haven’t written a recipe in ages – your readers won’t like that. You don’t focus much on food and nutrition anymore – your readers won’t like that. You are a Holistic Health Coach – you are supposed to talk about ‘health’. It’s not a good ‘business’ move  – everyone loves food! Now, before I go on I have to pause here to say that eating clean, caring for my body, and making sure that I am doing the best for it is still of vital importance. It is part of the rhythm of my life – just like breathing is. I  believe that in order to grow and evolve into the best versions of ourselves that we must begin by cleaning up the body. Personally, the journey through yoga + clean eating is precisely what has allowed me to begin the journey of going deeper, reflecting inward – learning more about myself and peeling off layer after layer in order to connect deeper and align with me soul. Journey to the deep There has been a natural progression for me, openly shared on this blog, and I know that some of you may love this, others perhaps not so much. I am clearly less focused on sharing ‘food’. It IS a form of healing though and one I will still continue to share in some capacity (I’m not sure quite sure HOW yet). I’m going to be totally upfront – eating well is easy. The only thing that is difficult is when WE (our ego, limitations, fears) get in the way. From the very beginning of my work as a Holistic Health Coach I have ALWAYS said that it doesn’t matter what you eat if you think, feel and behave in a way that, energetically, causes you harm. I don’t care how many green smoothies you drink a day. Yes, they will start to clean up your body, but deep transformation happens when we move past the body. Eating clean will transform your life. It did to mine. It is STILL something that I teach to my clients and something I am so passionate about. The difference? I’m interested now in creating soul-level evolution. I want to connect with the truth of who I am as much as I possibly can. I also want to share this with you. Be here now and tomorrow will come The thing is, I can see that my entire journey to this point has been perfectly scripted to get me right to the place my soul always wanted to be. I can’t wait to see what unfolds from here! I couldn’t go back in time and outline this journey any better. I’ve been completely taken on this ride, joyfully and with ease. Which means that I am completely trusting of how I am feeling now and this shift that is taking place. Going forward I’m not making any ‘final’ decisions. This things I am passionate about – Good food, clean eating, energetic work, spiritual development, yoga, self-enquiry, meditation, ayurveda – will ALL feature on this blog and through my work. To what level I don’t really know. I’m going to stay in the flow and let it unfold naturally. What I do know though is that I have BIG dreams for the future. I want to bring all of this to you in new and exciting ways (did someone say The Wellness Project retreat?). I’m seeing workshops, events, collaborations with health experts, ebooks and more. Whatever I do it’ll be grounded in an intuitive, soul-centered approach. Although, I’m sure this beautiful women who is making sure the message of self-love is heard by many doesn’t need introducing! Originally from the UK, I moved to Australia when I was 25 to get married. I became immersed in personal development, natural therapies and healing courses. One memorable night in 2003, I was meditating and feeling particularly unhappy. I asked myself what I most needed and the answer was ‘self-love’. I had no idea what that meant and so I kept asking myself what that would look like for me. Surprisingly, I saw ingredients flying into a bottle, which created a “Self-love” Alchemical oil and it was so vivid that I made it. I stated a commitment to “let go of everything preventing me from embracing 100% self-love” and then proceeded to become very familiar with every part of me that was totally out of alignment with that intention. Over the next 9 years and I came to get to know myself and all the vulnerable parts of me that I had ignored, denied and repressed. I also intuitively received Sacred Self’s self-love range of 33 Alchemical oils during this time, which address the various aspects of self-love. For example Freedom Alchemical oil with its affirmation “I set myself free”, which is about assisting us to let go of self-imposed limitations. I learnt what it really meant to learn to love myself as I then moved through some big challenges and many life changes. Places such as Niagara Falls, the Himalayas, Uluru, Avebury and Assisi are ones that immediately jump out at me as places where I’ve received a lot of inspiration and insights. I love travel and have just got back from a wonderful women’s retreat in Bali. I receive so much from these experiences. There’s nothing like travel and learning about other cultures to expand our sense of what’s possible.…. How do you USE that inspiration? How does it integrate into your life? Time in nature and travel is instrumental for me and this is how I receive my Alchemical oils. This is how I live my life, integrating the creative force as it comes through me. I also use my ‘Inspiration’ Alchemical oil and its affirmation “I am inspired” when I need a reminder or I’m feeling frazzled. My business and life is creative and so I feel that it is integrated in this way. When it comes to health and wellness what’s important to you? I am very tuned into how my body is feeling and try to always listen to what it wants and needs. For me, all of the wisdom I need is inside me and my body will always tell me what’s most important if I ask the questions. I believe it’s so important to listen to our own body-wisdom, which has all the answers. What’s your routine? I eat mainly organic and local. I meditate and ask myself the question “what do I most need from me?” morning and night. I go for a walk each morning as I set my intention and contemplate the day ahead. I feel as though the day has not got off on the right foot otherwise and I’m not as clear. My day could also incorporate the use of hypnotherapy or EFT, depending on where I’m at and what’s going on for me. I usually have a walk again at some point in the afternoon. I have to spend a lot of time outside and connect with nature. How do you find balance + happiness? I think balance is a bit of myth and seems to be one of these things that people are constantly striving for. Our needs and desires change all the time and it’s being connected enough in with your own inner guidance, so that you can address what these needs are in that moment. I’ve been meaning to share these two powerful conversations with you for a while. As you all know I’m passionate about tapping into our true power and truth through the art of surrender. THE VOICES IN YOUR HEAD + THEN THERE’S YOU

At what point do you stop listening to that voice in your head that convinces you to sleep-in instead of move your body? When do we finally say ENOUGH to that little self-sabotaging bitchy girl (or boy!) we all have within that does everything to keep us stuck, blocked, limited and unhappy. Wouldn’t you like to dive head-first into life without second guessing yourself all the time? We all have it. I’m talking about the ego. The ‘small-self’. That inner ‘voice’ that trips us up and plays games with us – holding us back from living, growing, achieving, being in our greatness Deepak Chopra describes the ego as our self-image, but not our true self, characterized by labels, masks, images, and judgments. What we think isn’t always the truth The way ‘we think’ we see ourselves is simply a perception that we believe to be true. A perception fed to us by the ego – the small self. The ego is smart and incredibly subtle. It plays in a world of judgment, expectations, agendas, credit, blame, building us up and tearing us down. Think about that moment when you are laying in bed, the alarm has just gone off. The night before you made the promise to get up and exercise, but you can’t get out of bed. Then the ego or small-self chimes in: ‘Oh, you are tired – stay and rest, you deserve it’. (Credit!) ‘What’s the point of exercising anyway, you won’t lose any weight and you never feel good’.  (Judgment!) ‘The Personal Trainer is a total cow, she hates you and at the last session she picked on you’. (Blame!) ‘But if you don’t go you’ll never fit into those jeans’ (Agendas! Tearing down!) ‘You don’t need to exercise, you are fine the way you are’. (Building up!) ‘You know you look fat in your tights, it’s so embarrassing’. (Judgement, tearing down’ ‘Maybe if you move your butt you might get a smaller butt and then a boyfriend!’ (Expectations. Agendas!) Sound familiar? It’s because we all have one – an ego that is. That mean, inner voice. We can’t get rid of it, nor do we want to. However, there is hope. We aren’t completely held hostage by the ego. Our awareness can be the biggest game-changer ever. You see, our true self is a field of infinite possibilities, creativity, intentions, and power. We can go beyond the ego through self-awareness. The more aware we are of our own thoughts, feelings, actions, words, behaviours of our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, the more we begin to see the ego and it’s games. We can call the shots and instead connect with what feels true for us and what we know is ultimately best for us. The next time you find yourself in the midst of an inner battle – you and your small self – remember this. There is another you – the real you – the higher self that is infinite, powerful, special. You are not your ego. You have to live with it, but it’s not you. That is the truth – you are not those limiting thoughts, feelings and behaviours. You are greater than that.
