INSPIRATION CORNER WITH SUSANA FRIONI

INSPIRATION CORNER WITH SUSANA FRIONI

Posted November 16, 2012

Susana’s post had me smiling from the first sentence. Inspiring and enlightening. We are two yogis who have been profoundly moved, forever changed, found home, through yoga. And reading her words has reminded me of my own journey and maybe that of many people who first opened up on the mat only to realise there was more to life than fashion, cars, things, ‘stuff’… I absolutely LOVE the way Susana writes and I love her blog even more. Deliriously Deep – even the name invites a sense of discovery. I invite you to jump INTO her words. To feel them, not just read them and see if her words inspire and stir something within in. Breathe and all is revealed.  Love and all is healed. This is the mantra that takes me deeper into my existence and higher into my Being. This is the one liner that brings me back home to my heart, my soul, and my Self. This is the story of my life. This is also my self care ritual. This is the very reason yoga has changed my life. This is the one practice that has me plugged into the most sustainable source of happiness I’ve ever experienced. This is also my pleasure and my ecstasy. This is my gateway to intimacy; be it with myself or with others. This is the one reminder that transforms all of my relationships, especially the relationship I have with mySelf. This is also my life saviour. This is what dissolves all the chaos and the conflict and the confusion and the inner tension. This is the one quote that pulls me back to the here and now where all the magic and miracles are. This is the mantra, the practice, the reminder and the quote that guides everything I do. Breathe and all is revealed. Love and all is healed. Did Susana’s words inspire you and resonate with you – perhaps a part of you that you never connect with? Saha to you, Claire x Read more

INSPIRATION CORNER WITH CLAIRE CHARTERS

INSPIRATION CORNER WITH CLAIRE CHARTERS

Posted November 05, 2012

Today’s inspiring individual is Claire Charters. I’ve followed her blog and devoured her words many times. She has such a way with words. You’ll see what I mean! Claire is a writer, holistic lifestyle coach and online personality. Charters founded her holistic blog with the goal of creating an online wellness resource to inspire people to reconnect with their body and soul. Claire is a professional writer and writes for various health, beauty and wellness magazines along with various sites. Claire is due to publish her first book “Everyday Simple Luxuries” at the end of the year. I hope you enjoy her beautiful words. “Inspiration resides within you, as you” – Claire Charters With over scheduled lives, endless chores and society expectations it can be super easy to fall off the inspiration bus. At the end of a hectic day we are often left feeling uninspired, tired, dragged down and overwhelmed. So how do you find inspiration? The best way to stay inspired is to bring your awareness to the present moment, truly see what is going on around you. Once you feel in the present moment,  then choose your activities mindfully. I find it works to stop, breath and focus. There is a saying I love “Where your focus goes, your energy flows” – unknown. Being inspired is about enjoying life and making the most out of it. All the inspiration and answers you seek already reside within you. You just need to learn to quieten the noise so that you can connect with it. Here are a few of my simple steps that help me bring back my focus to my own inspiration and things that matter: I stop and breathe mindfully. I take a deep breathe in and then a deep breath out. I drop all fears, comparisons and expectations, and follow the passion and message in my own heart. When I choose my focus, I make a conscience effort not to judge it. I make sure it is something that I want to do, and not something that I think I should do. I do it with my own authentic style, not the way my friend, Oprah or vogue magazine tells me. It is my focus and therefore to fire me up with inspiration it needs to be my truth and come from my authentic self. My life is my message to the world, so why not make it authentic and inspiring. As cliché as it sounds, I embrace the journey and not the destination. Every time I try something new I know without fail that I will come to roadblocks and detours, however I am determined to find a way that works for me. To me the meaning of living an inspiring life is– to risk it all, to try it all, to fail , then relearn how to do it better, to not give in, to relearn another way to do it better and then to be able to look back and see the lessons learnt. I believe simple is best and less is more. I choose to see the beauty in everyday moments, and if it is something big that I am trying to achieve, I break it down into simple and manageable goals. It’s when I try to do too much and achieve things to fast that the universe gets confused because my focus is all over the place. When this happens I just breathe and go back to keeping it simple. Some simple ways to ignite a little inspiration in your own life Find Inspiration in Nature Walk or take a bike ride in nature, practice mindfulness as you savour the moment. Take note of everything from the smells, sounds and feelings. Read a book or have a picnic in nature. Take a camera outside and take photos of everything that looks beautiful to you. Sit and connect with nature. Practice mindful deep breathing. Smell the flowers, listen to the birds and feel the breeze kiss your hair. Sit and watch children play and laugh. Let their spontaneous spirit fill your heart and carry it around with you for the day. Take a sketch book outside and draw, paint or write. Don’t judge your work; just let it flow on the pages. Find Inspiration on Google  Watch a you tube video on inspiring and beautiful things. Search for tweets with the hash tag #inspiration Read inspiring blogs written by people who have overcome some of life’s hardest lessons. Join and be active in a forum of people who are going through the same situation as you. The fact that you can resonate with their story will bring inspiration. Google inspirational quotes, sayings and pictures. Open up your heart and share yourself vulnerably and authentically in a blog post—you need to give inspiration to receive it. Post inspiring quotes and pictures on social media. Find Inspiration in Curiosity Try something new that you have never dared to before, release all limiting beliefs and just go for it. Be spontaneous and do something completely random, sometimes inspiration can be found in the most unusual of places. Learn something new, don’t be hard on yourself, and just go with the flow of the learning process. Sit down and write a bucket list of everything that you want to do in your lifetime. Follow your passion and excitement, even if it seems unlogical and completely senseless. Create a vision board filled with beautiful pictures, words and quotes that inspire you. Set a challenge to try something new each day. Apply for things that you assume you won’t get. Submit your resume for your dream job or your audition for a television show. Keep an open mind and be open to new possibilities and opportunities, often the best opportunities are disguised as a failure, roadblock or detour. Find Inspiration in People Ask someone what they consider to be the most important life lesson they have learnt so far. Ask your loved ones what they are grateful […] Read more

INSPIRATION CORNER: JAMIE GONZALEZ

INSPIRATION CORNER: JAMIE GONZALEZ

Posted October 29, 2012

I’d like to introduce you to Jamie Gonzalez. I’m really excited to share with you Jamie’s inspirational story – all in his words – because this guy literally turned his life upside down. All based on gut instinct. On intuition. His website and blog is a place where you can feed off his wisdom, inspiration and love. But he’s also a mentor and speaker for The Intuitive Warrior events. Everything I’ve ever heard about these events is incredibly positive and motivating including Jamie’s contribution. As I write this, I have just finished a two-day event called WTF!? Experience. WTF indeed – wisdom, truth and freedom. Although I did have plenty of What The Fuck moments. I feel alive, energised and awake after this experience – but that’s for another post. Back to Jamie. He is part of a team that spends there days sharing wisdom, truth, freedom, knowledge, intuition and most importantly love. So instinctively I knew that Jamie would have more than a few inspiring words to share with you. Now, without further delay, here he is. The man of the hour, Jamie Gonzalez ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ It was almost a year and half a go that I made a life changing decision to follow a feeling, follow my heart and go all the way no matter what lay ahead. My background had been in property for almost ten years. I had some great success early in my career and did quite well for myself, but more recently I had come off the back of a few years of some bad luck with investments so financially my life wasn’t healthy to say the least. I felt very stuck, I found myself working but realizing what I was doing was a means to an end. I felt I was just waking up and going to work to pay the bills and fund my debts. I was truly feeling uninspired and unmotivated. Thinking I was somewhat crazy I decided to create some space and let go of my property business not knowing what I would do or how things would work out. I did this all based on a feeling. I found myself at a time in my life where I started to feel something within me move that felt more true to me than anything I had going on in my life.  I had spent a good part of my life making it about everything outside of me, my career, finances, relationships and other things that made up my identity.  It was time to find myself within and let go of what felt like an endless search outside of me. This was one incredibly hard decision as it was what I had done for the past ten years and it was who I knew myself to be. People knew me and I had credibility in the industry. Its what I knew paid my bills and funded my life financially. This was going to be one big leap to just leave it all behind? The moment I decided to let my business go was an incredibly freeing moment, not knowing what lay ahead felt scary but also exciting. Doing so meant within the following months I wouldn’t be able to pay bills, debts and pay for my ordinary lifestyle. I just decided to sit with all the fear that was coming up and not judge it but rather accept it and let it be. I didn’t try to change things! I knew this was all part of the change and by accepting it and just connecting to what felt true for me something would come to me. It was almost a couple of months that went by where I didn’t know exactly what I would do. The time seem to drag on but I just spent this time embracing how I felt about being in this period of uncertainty. It was then only a short while after I found myself training to be a mentor and speaker. Amir Zoghi who had been a mentor of mine approached me and offered me an opportunity to be part of a business in mentoring and speaking and it felt so true. I had no idea how this would unfold but I knew it was the next thing for me. All my life I had been the person my friends came to for advice on life or just the usual stories they were looking for clarity on. I always some how seemed to have the most perfect answer and I had no idea how this happened. I had been through a lot in my life and I suppose I was always someone who pondered on my experiences, which gave me wisdom. Since a young age I had also done lots of different work on discovering more about life, who we are and why we are here. Through following this initial feeling and really for the first time in my life starting to trust my heart life unfolded in magical ways. My experiences became richer and deeper in all areas of my life. I found myself following what felt true in more and more moments throughout my days. In doing so it has been less then twelve months and I now find myself speaking and mentoring in five different cities each month internationally.  Mentoring clients around the world in all different types of areas and fields of life to follow their hearts and live from that space. The more I show up and allow this feeling, this energy to flow through me the more life seems to just happen around me in ways which continue to support my decisions and doing what I love to do. I wouldn’t say it has been easy. The resistance of my experiences and the possibilities that sometimes invited fear into my mind made parts of this journey difficult. It was also me though that was responsible for creating that fear or doubting my own self. My will though to experience what ever […] Read more

INSPIRATION CORNER WITH YASEMIN TROLLOPE

INSPIRATION CORNER WITH YASEMIN TROLLOPE

Posted October 22, 2012

Yaz and I go way back. Back to my days in Fashion PR. Yep, a whole other world. But, we’ve always crossed paths, even now as a health coach and yoga teacher I see Yaz just as much, if not more. When I was in beauty PR I rubbed shoulders with Yas, who you might know as one of THE  beauty gurus out there! But she’s also all about health and happiness too. Mrs Trollope is a freelance beauty editor currently writing for Good Health Magazine, PRIMPED.com.au and a regular on Channel 9’s Mornings. She is also the proud creator of The Happiness Cocktail – a blog about finding goodness in the concoctions of life. She is one inspiring lady who LITERALLY glows from the inside out – seriously, it’s amazing how this woman shines and she knows all about it as you’ll discover below. I’m pleased to introduce Yasemin Trollope and her wee little piece about glowing from the inside! Get Your Glow On: Three Ways To Beam From Within I’ll admit it. When Claire asked me to guest blog on her site I was stuck for inspiration. Strange, considering I do this for a living; write about beauty, health, wellbeing and happiness. But when it came to providing her well-informed, incredibly important clients and readers with something new, fresh and absolutely-need-to-know, I got stumped. Crazy isn’t it? Your mind is a powerful beast that sometimes likes to take control and throw your off course without any notice. Like a horse, who allows you to take the reigns and gently guide them through the forest, until they remember they have the control to run, buck or kick their way to freedom and do so with reckless abandon, leaving you scratching your head wondering how that happened. So what does all this have to do with glowing skin? Well, my life is spent deciphering the Balance Code. The secret to a healthy balance of inner and outer beauty. Beauty, traditionally speaking is often only viewed from the outside. It’s purely physical. But what I’m working towards is that inner glow. That inner beam of true health, wellbeing and happiness that has less to do with Angelina Jolie-esque looks and more to do with feeding your soul the stuff it needs to look (and feel) the best it can. As a result, I’ve come across many should-try foods, supplements, minerals and vitamins that not only help your insides, but your outsides too. I believe that if you want gorgeously glowing, happy skin, you need to have happy insides. You need to your nourish your system with wholefoods, lots of antioxidants and fresh leafy greens as well as nurturing daily practices that help clean your mind, build your confidence and make you radiate from within. Here, three easy ways to get your glow on. 1. Up Your Antioxidants! I’m pretty sure you all know that your skin is your largest organ. We’re told drinking too much alcohol can damage our liver, or that not enough exercise clogs our arteries and hurts our heart, but what about the effect food has on our skin – our largest organ of all? Well, we’re told bits and pieces, but nothing concrete, simple and easy to digest. Let’s get straight to the point – antioxidants are crucial in the quest for glowing skin. Antioxidants are the soldiers who don their armour and fight off free radicals – the critters who attack our cells and cause oxidation – which in turn causes an increased level of ageing in our bodies. Many skincare brands today pack their products with antioxidants to help fight off the signs of ageing from an external perspective, but my advice is to attack them from both sides – internally and externally. Start your day with a few cups of gorgeously soothing green or white tea, rather than coffee. Or, if you’re not into the taste of either of those, go for Rooibos tea instead. Drink the tea on its own, without milk. Then, follow up with a beautiful bowl of fruit, taking special care to add organic blueberries, blackberries and kiwi fruit as they are the gold medal winning antioxidant fruits. Vary your intake as much as possible to ensure you are giving your skin every type of vitamin, mineral and antioxidant available. 2. Protect Your Gut! I am a firm believer in your skin being the outer reflection of what’s going on inside your body. More specifically, I think that skin-related issues like eczema, psoriasis, and other skin rashes can be caused by an unhappy gut. Many naturopaths I’ve spoken to over the years all agree that there’s a direct link between your skin and your gut. The simple reason being that the small and large intestines are based on an environment that needs to work in perfect harmony with the bacteria in your body. Think of your gut as your second brain. It’s a machine that’s constantly trying to balance out your levels of flora, and when these levels go out of balance due to certain foods, eating on the run, being really stressed and so on, inflammation occurs in your digestive tract and your immune system is left to clean up the mess. The only problem is that now your immune system is on high alert, alarm bells are ringing, red lights are flashing, and your gut is confused and unhappy. So, how does this affect the skin? Well, as your body attempts to fix the inflammation in the gut, immune complexes (or diseases) are created and then dumped on your skin’s doorstep. Your poor skin is then left wondering what’s happening and often breaks out in a rash. My point? Protect your gut. Make probiotics (including kefir) your friend and help heal your skin from the inside out. 3. Capture Your Inner Glow! While food and gut health are both an essential piece of the pie, one crucial ingredient to radiating good health is having self-confidence. For me, it […] Read more

THE INSPIRATION CORNER WITH MELISSA AMBROSINI

Posted October 01, 2012

Today’s inspiring individual is the warm-hearted and gorgeous Melissa Ambrosini. We met during our health coaching studies and have recently held a fantastic workshop together – many more planned in the future. We have a real ‘heart’ connection and if you ever have the pleasure of meeting this amazing soul you’ll come to realise that she navigates life FROM her heart. A rarity. She inspires me because she believes in love and she isn’t afraid to show it. I hope Melissa inspires you as much as she does me and everyone she meets! What inspires you Mel? I am inspired, every day, as soon as I open my eyes, to give this game we call life another crack. I am inspired by: hot pink and orange sunrises and sunsets choice freedom soulful conversations with conscious beings being in the garden getting shiny, diamond-clear on my goals achieving my goals juicy gratitude lists the people I choose to surround myself with travelling adventuring through new countries and cities Mother Nature and all her beauty honesty the beach and feeling the sand between my toes being outdoors and feeling the sunshine on my skin breath-taking views beautiful imagery and art my family great books seeing the dolphins and whales play in the ocean lovingly moving my body deep meditation heartfelt connections love magical blogs painting and doodling journaling reciting affirmations and mantras organic food prepared and eaten with love. Why do these things inspire you? All of the above make my heart sing. They give me a reason to get out of bed each morning. That sets me on purpose and gives my life meaning. I don’t necessarily, logically, understand why they inspire me. I don’t need to. They just do. What does Inspiration mean to you? Sometimes, we wander off down a path that is not true for us. We do things with agendas and out of fear and ego. Your own personal inspiration gently guides you back onto your yellow brick road towards your true purpose. Without it, we would be lost. It runs through my veins. I need it to survive. You can read more about Mel and her business Path to Wellness here or connect with her on facebook. Saha to you, Claire x Read more

NEW BLOG SERIES – THE INSPIRATION CORNER

NEW BLOG SERIES – THE INSPIRATION CORNER

Posted September 24, 2012

I think it’s important to note that I am constantly inspired and influenced by so many things, situations, experiences but mostly, people! There are so many brilliant change-makers out there at the moment. And they are just at our door-step, ready and willing to share their passions with you. Inspiration is a cyclic experience. You are inspired, you then mould and change and re-form that inspiration into something just for you. You share that. And you in turn inspire someone else. I think that’s pretty special. Inspiration is important to me so I have decided to pay homage to it and all those amazing individuals with this new blog series: The Inspiration corner. This is also a chance for me to share these awesome individuals and their own inspiration with you. So, to kick it off I’d like to introduce the first inspiration individual, Melinda Cornford. Mel and I have crossed paths a few times. In our past lives in the media industry but more recently as two passionate wellness seekers. She has had a few unexpected turns and twists happen career wise in the last year but this has led her onto the most amazing path and I’d definitely keep an eye on Mel. Big things to happen, I’m sure!  I asked Mel what she is inspired by…  At the moment I’m inspired every day by my followers (on The Workout Room).  Receiving an email, tweet or comment about how one of my posts, tips or recipe has inspired them to make healthy changes in their lives puts a gigantic spring in my step. One of my night-owl girlfriends, who traditionally has chocolate and a can of V for breakfast, recently started running of a morning. I was blown away – she had to send me a photo to prove it. It’s those kind of success stories that get me out of bed of a morning and encourage me to do more. And what makes Mel feel alive and where does she get her inspiration from? I’m inspired by anyone who passionately follows their dreams. I love meeting or reading about people who are living every day doing something that makes them or others truly happy. I that kind of passion is infectious. Right now, women like activewear entrepreneur Lorna Jane Clarkson, wellness warrior Jess Ainscough, inspiration guru Gabby Burnstein and the author of this very blog, Claire Obeid, inspire me every day. Aww, thanks Mel! 😀 Check out Mel’s new blog, The Workout Room and join her growing facebook community. Tweet, tweet her way if you are so inclined! Wishing you a day filled with inspiration.
